Tre Smith Spends Quality Time With The Football

Saturday wasn't the best of days for Auburn punt returner Tre Smith. After dropping the ball twice on returns Saturday against Ole Miss, Auburn coaches have given Smith something to remind him of his mistakes - the football.

During practice this week Smith has been required to carry the football everywhere he goes. "They've been making me carry it around on the sidelines. Wanting me to hold on to it and think about what I did," Smith said.

Let's hope it works. Smith is still slated to return punts this week. Another mistake and he could lose that job heading into Amen Corner.

But more importantly, with Kenny Irons banged up and Brad Lester out for Saturday, Smith will be getting more carries at tailback. Let's hope all that quality time with the ball helps.
